Every year on August 17th, we celebrate National Nonprofit Day – a day to honor the hard work and impact of our 700+ nonprofit Giving Partners. At Thrive Causemetics®, we celebrate this day with hands-on service, rolling up our sleeves, and giving back alongside the nonprofits we love.
This year, we were honored to spend the day with Animal Wellness Foundation, an animal shelter and veterinary service based in Marina Del Rey, CA. It was a day full of wagging tails, wet noses, and lots of smiles.
Supporting Animal Wellness Foundation Beyond Nonprofit Day
Earlier this year, during our Los Angeles Wildfire Donation Day, Thrive Causemetics donated $25,000 to Animal Wellness Foundation to help with wildfire recovery efforts, including food, shelter, and medical treatment. In January, Dr. Annie and her incredible team opened their clinic as an emergency shelter for pets displaced by the fires. Since then, the foundation has cared for countless cats, dogs, and even some unexpected rescues: a bunny named Oreo and a pot-belly pig!
With their new clinic now fully operational, they continue to use the old facility as a shelter space to care for displaced and adoptable animals.
A Day of Service with Shelter Animals
Our team spent the day immersed in the daily work of the animal shelter. We learned about their critical work firsthand by:

Walking dogs

Giving baths

Playing and socializing

Prepping food and treats

Organizing supplies, including leashes and bowls

Putting together adoption care packages for pups heading to their forever homes!
And here’s the best part: two puppies were adopted during our visit! Witnessing pets go to their forever home was a heartwarming reminder of the life-changing impact that Animal Wellness Foundation provides every single day.
Meet Anakin, Rita, and Pinky
During our visit, we spent time with some of the sweetest adoptable pups still looking for their forever homes:

Anakin: Already a pro at sit, stay, lay down, and shake – plus he’s perfectly crate-trained! Anakin loves walks, playtime, and mental challenges to keep his clever mind busy.

Rita: A true cuddle bug with a charming personality. From her excited piggy snorts to her contagious energy, Rita quickly bonds with people and is endlessly lovable.

Pinky: Housetrained, crate-trained, and endlessly affectionate, Pinky is happiest when she’s snuggled up with her people. She’s a belly-rub enthusiast and a total sweetheart.

Giving Back Together
Volunteering with Animal Wellness Foundation was a joyful and energizing way to celebrate National Nonprofit Day. We left with full hearts and a deep appreciation for the dedicated staff and volunteers who support these animals every day.
