Maria is the Founder of Magenta Momz and a devoted mom to her son, Jaylen. Like many caregivers of children with special needs, Maria experienced years of mental exhaustion and isolation. While balancing a corporate job, pursuing her design degree, and caring for Jaylen, Maria relied on the support of her mother. After her mother passed away, finding respite and prioritizing her own well-being became even more difficult. The weight of caregiving began to impact her mental health, leading to periods of depression.
Through her journey, Maria realized that many caregivers share similar struggles but don’t always feel safe speaking openly about them. While every experience is different, one truth remains – caring for mental health is essential for both caregivers and the children who depend on them.
In 2021, Maria drew from her lived experience to found Magenta Momz, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of caregivers of children with special needs. What began as delivering self-care packages to local moms has grown into a broader network of support, including wellness resources, live events, counseling, and community programming designed to reduce burnout and strengthen families.
Since 2022, Thrive Causemetics has proudly partnered with Magenta Momz, donating over $500,000 in products to support moms navigating the challenges of caregiving. Through self-care initiatives and wellness programs, these donations help caregivers feel seen, valued, and supported.
