Meet Shirley, the namesake for our Brilliant Face Highlighter™ Skin Perfecting Powder shade Shirley (Bronze Gold)!
Shirley Raines is an inspiration to so many, including the entire Thrive Causemetics® community. The founder of our long-time Giving Partner Beauty 2 The Streetz, Shirley started the organization after the tremendous heartbreak of losing her son. The grief she felt became motivation for a meaningful goal: to help other suffering and struggling individuals on the streets of Skid Row in Los Angeles. Shirley’s determination allowed her to turn her pain into purpose and help so many who have no one to turn to.
Shirley was supporting homeless people for several years before Beauty 2 The Streetz became an official nonprofit organization. When it first began, Shirley and her children would pass out meals, as well as hygiene and beauty products, and Shirley personally provided hair and makeup services. Now, Beauty 2 The Streetz has grown into a full team that can be found every Saturday on Skid Row. The organization provides necessities, beauty services, and most importantly, a personal and compassionate connection to the community they serve.
Beauty 2 The Streetz first became a Giving Partner in 2018. With your support, we have provided more than 10,000 Thrive Causemetics® products, valued at over $300,000, to Beauty 2 The Streetz to support their work with the homeless population. Beauty 2 The Streetz was also a recipient of one of our 2021 Juneteenth donations, in which select Giving Partners who are committed to racial and social justice each received $5,000 in cash. In March 2022, we partnered with Beauty 2 The Streetz to kick off the launch of Bigger Than Beauty® Skincare Sunproof™ 3-in-1 Invisible Priming Sunscreen because sun protection is so important for homeless individuals. In addition to the priming sunscreen, Beauty 2 The Streetz received a $10,000 cash donation to help with their initiatives. We love partnering with Shirley, which has included her work as a Thrive Causemetics® model in our Sheer Strength™ Hydrating Lip Tint launch shoot.
